Building Code & Bushfire Hazard Solutions also has a business arm that has been set up to create, maintain and certify Asset Protection Zones (otherwise known as Fire Breaks or Buffer Zones).
All work is done to the requiremnts of the NSW Rural Fire Service's document Planning for Bushfire Protection - 2006 and the "Standards for Asset Protection Zones" and any particular consent conditions.
What Is An Asset Protection Zone (Fire Break)?
An Asset Protection Zone (APZ) is a fuel reduced area surrounding a building or an item of value whether residential, commercial or industrial. Fuel reduced means just that; a reduction in the available vegetation sufficient to reduce the impact of bushfire. It does not mean the total removal of all vegetation and yes some trees can remain. |
